PayRent.com, Inc. (herein referred to as "PR") maintains this web site (“Site”)
to provide owners the ability to pay rent Fees other compensation under their respective
landlord-rent arrangements. This privacy policy is designed to inform
you of: (i) the types of information PR collects, (ii) how PR uses that information,
and (iii) the circumstances under which PR will share your information with both
affiliated and non-affiliated third parties.
1. Information Collection
- (a) Cookies. PR makes use of “cookie” technology and web server
logs to collect information on how the Site is used in order to constantly improve
our website and better serve its customers. A cookie is a small amount of data that
is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive.
The information in the cookies lets PR trace the paths followed by users to the
Site as they move from one page to another. The web server logs allow PR to count
how many people visit the Site and evaluate the Site’s visitor capacity. This information
assists PR to design and arrange its web pages in the most user-friendly manner,
so that PR may continually improve the Site to better meet your needs. PR does not
use this technology to collect your email address or any personally identifying
information about you.
- (b) Non-Public Personal Information. If you fill out our online
registration form, PR will collect your nonpublic personal information. The term
“nonpublic personal information” refers to information about you which PR receives
from the sources described below and which is not otherwise lawfully available to
the general public. Non-public personal information may include, but is not limited
to, your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
PR collects nonpublic personal information about you from: (i) information PR receives
when you submit an online registration or other forms; and (ii) information PR receives
when verifying what information you have provided in the registration form. (This
may be obtained from, but is not restriPRed to, your current landlord and institutions
where you are proposing to facilitate these financial transactions).
- (c) Personal Financial Information. As part of the Service, you
will be required to provide your credit/debit card information and/or your bank
account number upon registration. The term “financial information” refers to information
about you which PR receives from the sources described below and which is not otherwise
lawfully available to the general public. Financial information may include, but
is not limited to, bank account information, credit card information, rent amount,
and other financial information.
PR collects nonpublic personal information about you from: (i) information PR receives
when you submit an online registration or other forms; and (ii) information PR receives
when verifying what information you have provided in the registration form. (This
may be obtained from, but is not restriPRed to, your current landlord and institutions
where you are proposing to facilitate these financial transactions).
2. Information Sharing. Unless you otherwise opt-out of allowing
PR to share your non-public personal information, PR reserves the right, upon you
acknowledging this privacy policy and submitting your non-public personal information,
to disclose, share, license, sell or assign such non-public personal information
to any affiliated and non-affiliated third parties as permitted by law. Such third
parties may include, without limitation, mortgage lenders, real estate, financial
institutions, credit card companies, insurance companies, and other parties who
offer products or services that PR feels may be of interest to you. Further, such
non-affiliated third parties may contact you to offer products and/or services that
may or may not relate to your transactions with PR, and may re-use or share your
information. PR also reserves the right, upon your financial information, to disclose
or share such financial information to any of its affiliated third parties to facilitate
the Services, your landlord, or as may otherwise be required by law. Under no circumstances
will PR share your financial information with any non-affiliated third parties except
as provided in Paragraph 3 (c) below.
3. Opt Out.
- (a) Except as otherwise provided in Paragraph 3 (b) below, you
have the right to opt out of having your non-public personal information shared
by PR to any affiliated and/or non-affiliated third parties at any time, by:
- (i) emailing PR at privacy@payrent.com
, with the words “opt out” in the subjePR line, along with your full name and username
in the body of the email;
- (ii) sending PR a letter to the postal address contained below
indicating your desire to opt out, with your full name and username in the letter.
- (b) Even if you elect opt out, PR reserves the right to provide
your non-public personal information to a non-affiliated third party to the extent
permitted by law. Such circumstances may include, without limitation, making disclosures:
(i) to the extent necessary to administer or enforce a transaction requested or
authorized by you; (ii) for servicing or processing a financial produPR or service
requested or authorized by you; (iii) to maintain or service your account with a
financial institution; (iv) to protect against or prevent fraud; or (v) for the
third party to perform funPRions on behalf of PR, including marketing PR’s products
and services. In such instances, the third party will only be authorized to use
your information for the limited purpose of such relationship or transaPRion.
- (c) Additionally,PR reserves the right to provide
your financial information to a non-affiliated third party to the extent permitted
by law. Such circumstances may include, without limitation, making disclosures:
(i) to the extent necessary to administer or enforce a transaction requested or
authorized by you; (ii) for servicing or processing a financial produPR or service
requested or authorized by you; (iii) to maintain or service your account with a
financial institution; (iv) to protect against or prevent fraud; or (v) for the
third party to perform functions on behalf of PR, specifically, processing the transfer
of funds to and from your credit card and/or bank account. In such instances, the
third party will only be authorized to use your information for the limited purpose
of such relationship or transaction.
4. Annual Notices. By law, PR is required to provide an annual
notice of this privacy policy to any of its customers who continue a relationship
with PR. By submitting your non-public personal information and financial information,
you agree to receive such notification of PR’s privacy policy and any updates by
elePRronic mail. The notice transmission will be emailed to you in December of each
calendar year and shall contain a link to the PR’s Site privacy policy. Changes
to your email address should be forwarded to PR in order to provide you with the
annual notification. If you do not agree to receive the annual notice by electronic
mail, then PR asks that you do not disclose your non-public personal information
and financial information.
5. Treatment of Non- Public Personal Information; Security.
Except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy concerning the disclosure of
your non-public personal information to affiliated and nonaffiliated third parties,
PR will use reasonable efforts to safeguard your information from unintended third
parties. Further, PR restriPRs access to nonpublic personal information and financial
information about you to those PR employees who need to know that information to
provide PR’s rent payment services.
PR maintains fiscal, elePRronic and procedural safeguards to comply with federal
standards to guard your nonpublic personal information. For online security, PR
utilizes both Verisign’s™ and Hack Safe™ encryption/security software to safeguard
the personal and financial information PR collects from you online.
